VIRTUAL MYSTIC / ALTERNATIVE CONSUMMATION
This project is interested in cultivating a sense of transcendent space via the intersection of the virtual and real. The warped domicile is one which is informed by my personal history and imagines an attempted relationship with my parallel inner-life - where we navigate, break bread, swim, sleep and preach together on different planes - insinuating possibilities of new realities.
My sim and I are reoccupying our spaces as feminists, with the desire to reconjugate the baggage of a woman’s relationship to environment, nature, and worship systems.
The interior of our invented mythologies is conjured through the inversions of objects taken from the motions of middle america: cosmetology heads, Florida shells, waxed leaves, mold, internet delivered animal hair, trashed rugs, fashion, swampy mating calls and through ancient and contemporary domestic practices (felting and The Sims). The physical materialization of the objects are arrived at through ritualized repetition, attempting to erode constructs through an interest in reassignment and reconciliation.
